Alfred used a Kodak Bantam camera, probably an f/4.5 model, in the late 1930s

and early 1940s. He took quite a few photos during those years. Bantams

used size 828 film, which was really 35mm film without the sprocket holes.

This film had a paper backing, like the larger roll film sizes, and had only

8 exposures per roll.

 

Other films that had variations similar to this were 120 and 620 film which

were the same 60mm width but had different spools; and Pocket Instamatic

film which was 16mm film with different perforations than movie film and

spooled in a cartridge. Also, I believe that standard Instamatic film was

35mm in size, and spooled in a cartridge also.
