Athabasca Glacier, Alberta, 1989

We drove From Calgary in a rental car. We have many other photos of the area, particularly in Jasper National Park. Nearly all the pictures here are of the Athabasca Glacier, located in the Canadian Rockies between Jasper and Banff National Parks.

There is strong evidence of global warming here. The Canadians have set up markers here pinpointing the edge of the glacier every few years. I have marked pictures related to global warming evidence with an asterisk.

Enjoy the scenery. File sizes are around 100kb or 30 seconds on dial-up service. It is a bit slow but you will enjoy the picture size and quality. As with other material on our web pages, these photos will be left up a very long time, so take your time and come back.
